Custom enlarged intake pipe section designed for Mazda MX-5 fitted with a Cobra-style intake system, developed to remove flow restrictions present in the original configuration.

This design increases both inlet and outlet diameters and refines the internal geometry to maintain a more consistent effective airflow area through the bend, improving overall intake efficiency.

🔧 Installation Notes

Installs inline using standard silicone couplers and hose clamps

Designed to connect directly to a 65 mm throttle body

Integrated barbs help retain silicone hoses under boost or vibration

Test-fit recommended before final installation

Clearance considerations were taken into account based on radiator and bonnet spacing.

🧠 Technical Design Notes

Inlet increased from 63 mm to 70 mm to maximise flow through the tight bend

Outlet set to 65 mm, matching throttle body diameter

Middle section redesigned to avoid flow inconsistency seen in square or uneven profiles

Wall thickness increased to 3 mm for strength, heat resistance, and durability

Although the MAF housing measures 70 mm externally, its internal cross-sectional flow area is smaller due to internal geometry.
